LAGANDOC, the local out of hours provider, looks after the urgent needs of patients from 6.00 pm to 8.30 am weekdays, and 24 hours at weekends and bank holidays.

Appointments can be made through reception. Telephone 028 9260 3111. Normal appointments are for 10 minutes only and cannot accommodate two people unless agreed by the doctor.

We are an approved training practice for medical students and qualified doctors to gain experience in general practice. If the doctor has a student with them the doctor/receptionist will inform you. If you are not happy to have another person present please advise us accordingly.

Maura Henderson provides chronic disease management clinics including Asthma, Diabetes, Hypertension, Weight Management and Smoking Cessation. Health promotion consultations are also provided and include well man and well woman screening.

In addition to the doctors and nursing staff, the practice employs a number of receptionists, some of whom are part-time. Normally two or three are on duty at any one time. They are available to answer patient’s enquiries and make appointments. They take requests for repeat prescriptions and will communicate results of tests where appropriate. Their job is very busy and demanding so please be patient. The reception team is lead by Roberta Crothers, our Reception Manager. She is responsible for the day-to-day running of the practice, including co-ordination of clinics and surgeries. Helen Ewart, Practice Business Manager is responsible for the overall management of the practice.

Attached Staff

Health Visitor
There is a health visitor attached to the practice who is available to give advice on all health matters relating to children. She will also arrange immunisation and screening up to 5 years of age. The Health Visitor can be contacted through the Child Health Office. Telephone 028 9266 5181 Ext. 4444.

Treatment Room Nurses
Nursing services are provided in Treatment 1 on Level 2. The Treatment Room is open during practice opening hours except for Wednesday afternoon when it closes at 11.45 am. The nurses are available for taking blood samples, urine samples, dressing wounds, removing sutures and giving injections. Referral is usually by the GP.

District Nurse
There is a district nurse attached to the practice. She provides care for those patients unable to attend the health centre. The District Nurse can be contacted through the Community Services Office. Telephone 028 9266 5181 Ext 4445 or through the Practice Reception. .

Community Midwives
The Community Midwives assist with antenatal and postnatal care. Contact is through our Reception. A midwife clinic is held at the practice premises every week.
